Rumuruti Forest Association
The Rumuriti forest, 15,378 acres of indigenous high altitude forest, is home to amazing wildlife, an important water catchment area, the primary source of income for over 5,000 households in the area, and is being rapidly deforested and depopulated of wildlife. In 1994 the Rumuruti forest was in the process of being divided up for private land use by the government. It would have meant the loss of millions of trees and over 15 thousand acres of animal habitat.
